Stephen Chew, a nationally acclaimed expert on teaching and learning, will be the keynote speaker at this spring's Rutgers Active Learning Symposium, to be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2020. Chew, a professor of psychology at Samford University, will deliver a keynote lecture as well as a workshop at the popular annual event that draws more than 100 faculty and staff from Rutgers and beyond.

This summer's Active Learning 101 session is set for August 28th on Busch Campus. In addition to being required for faculty using our Active Learning Classrooms for the first time, AL 101 is a great opportunity to gain a grounding in the fundamentals of this exciting approach to teaching. The half-day workshop includes a review of active learning pedagogy, guidance on creating activities, demonstrations of helpful classroom technology, and a conversation with instructors who have been using active learning in their classes. Now in its third year, RALS is an all- day event designed to highlight cutting-edge research, novel approaches, exciting case studies and more relating to the use of active learning in higher education. Along with several sessions led by faculty and staff from Rutgers and beyond, the centerpiece of the day will be a presentation and workshop from this year's visiting expert, Dr. Idaykis Rodriguez.
