Rutgers Academic Building Classrooms

The brand-new Rutgers Academic Building, a new centerpiece of the College Avenue campus, has opened its doors. In addition to a new OIT Computer Lab and Learning Center, AB is home to 17 new general-purpose classrooms designed to accommodate a variety of classes. Eight seminar rooms offer intimate space for classes of twenty-five students or fewer. These rooms are equipped with moveable tables and chairs, glassboards, and DCS's Digital Classroom Flip-Top presentation system. Large classes have plenty of rooms at their disposal too, with seven lecture halls designed for courses of more than 100 students, all with Digital Classroom Podiums.

Finally, the Academic Building is home to three of our newest Active Learning Spaces. AB 4400 and 4450 house 90-person Active Learning Classrooms equipped with group tables and workspace, including whiteboards and display monitors. Instructors can teach from the Collaborative Instructor Hub, a central station where instructors can send images to any combination of the rooms 14 display screens, including overhead "jumbotrons." Finally, AB 4225 is Rutgers-New Brunswick's first Interactive Lecture Hall. This 248-person classroom has tiered seating with swivel seats that enable students to pair up or form groups for discussion and collaborative work. Like all our classrooms in the Rutgers Academic Building, the room is equipped with Solstive wireless display sharing. With Solstice, instructors and students can share images from their laptop, phone, or tablet wirelessly enabling presenters to move around the room and for students to quickly share images from their seats.
