New Tech for a New Semester

In preparation for the fall semester, DCS's Technical Services & Operations Team updated twenty-five classrooms with new equipment and features.

Our staff attempts to revisit each of our classrooms every six-years to replace aging equipment, add new features, and remove outdated equipment that has fallen out of use. This summer, among other improvements, we replaced projectors and computer and added new USB-C ports that can be used to access files.

Because our usage statistics indicate that they were used infrequently, we have removed VGA connections and blu-ray players.

Finally, to improve and expand the options for film-centric courses we enhanced the surround sound capabilities of our Screening Rooms and upgraded two existing classroom - Van Dyck 211 and Voohrees Hall 105 - to be Screening Rooms. Van Dyck is now capable of displaying two side-by-side images or one large image. Both rooms now have surround sound to complement theatre-grade projectors and blu-ray players.
