Digital Classroom Podium

The Original

The Digital Classroom Podium, or “DCP,” is the first system developed by DCS. It is now our standard classroom system for large classrooms. Lecture Halls and Auditoriums are equipped with the Digital Classroom Podium A1, a wider version of the podium that includes a preview monitor, voice amplification, and the ability to present on multiple in-room displays.

Rutgers Built for Rutgers Classes

The Digital Classroom Podium, like other Digital Classroom Systems, are designed and constructed in-house by our Technical Services & Operations team. The Rutgers Room Control program is also designed and improved by an in-house programmer. As a result, our staff is continuously able to modify the podium based on the experience of the faculty using them. Since first introducing the DCPs we have worked closely with faculty through direct interaction, surveys, and feedback sessions to refine new designs to best meet the needs of Rutgers instructors. We have various resources available to help you learn about and use the DCP.

Rutgers Room Control

Rutgers Room Control (RRC) is a home-grown application used to operate Digital Classroom Systems.

To get started, choose a source from the left column.

In rooms with a single monitor or projector, the source will begin to appear. In rooms with multiple displays, you will be promoted to select which displays you would like to use.

In rooms with Blu-ray/DVD drives, you’ll be asked to insert your disc and choose a player. In rooms with players, the playback controls will appear.

If you select document camera, instructors and controls will appear in the center.

In some larger rooms, a wireless microphone is kept in a locked drawer. To access it, press the “Unlock Mic Drawer” button and agree to the pop-up that appears.

In Conference & Capture rooms, you will also have a videoconference button. Pressing that reveals button for opening relevant applications and controlling the camera.

Interactive Lecture Halls have wireless display sharing. This feature allows the instructor and students to share images from their devices wireless, simultaneously.
