This summer, DCS continued its tradition of using classroom downtime to “evergreen” our teaching technology. We revisit every general-purpose classroom we support on a six-year cycle to ensure our equipment is ready for Rutgers classes and representative of the latest needs in teaching.
For 2026, that work involved adding video cameras and microphones for conferencing and recording as well as the capability to connect personal devices via USB-C. We also used this opportunity to replace Mac computers and other aging devices with newer models. Finally, to ensure our systems are streamlined and economic, we removed functionality – such as blu-ray players and VGA connections – that are seeing less and less use.
