DCS Showcase: Unplugging from the Podium

Event Location:
Tillett Hall Room 242

Join Digital Classroom Services on May 6th for their 2nd Annual Showcase: Unplugging from the Podium. One of DCS's focuses this year has been finding ways to help instructors get out from behind the podium and engage their students. By encouraging collaboration and discussion, allowing for a more dynamic presentation, or even overcoming geographic distances - students and faculty benefit from presentation options that don't require them to stay in one spot. At this year's showcase, DCS's Instructional Technologists will highlight tools designed to help instructors and students "unplug."

DCS will highlight ways to wirelessly project from a laptop, phone, or tablet, including methods of projecting up to four devices at once to enable collaboration. They will show how you can present and poll students directly from tablets offered by DCS. They will discuss how you can use DCS's wireless devices to control slide shows, navigate web pages, and more from anywhere in the room. And for those interested in taking it beyond the classroom, DCS will demonstrate ways that instructors, guest lecturers, and student can connect to their classroom remotely using video conferencing. Every teaching tool demonstrated at this year's showcase will be available for use in DCS classrooms.

Come to the one hour session to see an overview of each tool, how it can be used in a course, and what you need to get started. Then, get a closer look and try them out for yourself during breakout sessions.
