After a year off due to the pandemic, the Rutgers Active Learning Symposium (RALS) is returning for 2021. This year’s RALS will be held virtually on Wednesday May 19th. As usual, RALS will feature a day of presentations, workshops, panel discussions, poster sessions, and opportunities to connect with experts, practitioners, and fans of active learning at Rutgers and beyond. Because the pandemic has forced so many of us to dive head first into the challenge of re-imaging teaching online, this year's RALS will include sessions that explore how active learning can not only adapt, but thrive in non-traditional learning environments. As a result, we are planning a Symposium that includes opportunities to both share lessons learned from the last year and look forward to a new normal in which those experiences can lead to even more dynamic and vibrant applications of active learning.
The first step in building the 2021 Rutgers Active Learning Symposium is hearing from members of the Rutgers community. If you would like to lead a session, please complete a RALS Proposal Form to let us know what you have in mind. While we will be on the lookout for proposals that can speak to the current moment, any ideas that explore active learning is welcome. Proposals are being accepted now until Monday March 15th.
If you would like to be a part of this year’s selection committee – which involves reviewing proposals and meeting to choose sessions – please email the ALC leadership.
In the meantime, stay tuned for more information about our keynote presentation, agenda, and registration.
